Wandering through the back roads on our bikes, we locked them up in a bike park pretty close to the centre of town.
The views at St. Niklaaskerk square.
Breakfast was on the banks of the river Leie
There was only one place we wanted to visit and that was graffiti street. More like an alleyway given over to the graffiti artists and every so often painted over to enable them to start again.
It was a call back to the artists in Christchurch who were allowed to paint the Christchurch museum just before it closed for refurbishment.
Then on for a wander around town with a local info guide in hand.
At lunch we had some chips. MyraJean had it with Stoverij (meat chunks and gravy) and I had fritsaus. Similar to mayonnaise but not the same. Nicer.
We did go inside St. Baafskathedraal which was spectacular.
I do wonder how these massive stone buildings haven’t collapsed under their own weight yet. Also the time and energy. Astonishing.
All sighted out, we wandered to Citadel Park for a sit down before heading back to the bikes, via one more stop, St. Pieter’s Abby.
Late afternoon we had to try the Belgian waffles. Whilst yummy, they weren’t anything different, really.
Then it was a cycle back to camp to get things sorted for a long bike ride to Brussels.
